What personal data I collect and why I collect it

In the end it all comes down to this:

When visitors leave comments on my site I obviously collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the poster’s IP address.

Gravatar avatar support is disabled.

If you get the munchies…

You will encounter up to 4 cookies on my site, none of them are for any tracking or identification purposes.

_wpss_p_, _wpss_h_ = WP-SpamShield cookies -> Cookies will expire after 1 hour.
JCS_INENREF, JCS_INENTIM = Technical anti-spam cookies -> Cookies will expire after 1 hour.

All of those cookies are first party cookies and are not loaded or connected to a secondary server or URL.

Embedded content from other websites

I am trying to keep embedded content as local as possible, social media access is provided via a 2-step activation method to avoid user-tracking. There are no Google analytics or other trackers running on my site. In the future YouTube links will be handled by a lazy-loading mechanism to prevent user tracking, currently all YouTube embedded videos on my site have been converted to clickable links.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive a file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you have additional questions or want to remove your comment / data, just contact me with your comments associated email address at:

Enjoy your stay.
